Need to “Spring Clean” Mental Clutter? Join Me at This Event

springSpring is the season that prompts us to think about cleaning up the grimy, removing the clutter, getting rid of the old, and making room for the new. It typically applies to our homes. But I want to encourage you to also view Spring Cleaning from the perspective of getting rid of mental clutter.

What mental clutter is holding you back in life? You know:

  • The worries that hinder joy and delight from bubbling up in your everyday existence.
  • The stress from some form of loss during the difficult year of 2020.
  • The frustration of missing the social interaction and hugs from family and friends.
  • Those repetitive thoughts that you’re not good enough.

Have you experienced any of those thoughts? Then it’s time to clear out the dust, clutter, and grime that have been collecting in your mind! God’s Word says we can have our mental “eyes” focused and clear and  that our thoughts can be renewed and revitalized with His energy and strength when we let the light of His Truth show us the way.

Spring is a good time to refresh YOU! Let’s do it together. 🙂

Darkness vs. Light in Your Life

Darkness vs Light

A friend of mine has lost a friend to suicide. How dark life must have appeared to that person. She couldn’t see past the darkness even though the light was always shining.

Have you ever felt that hopeless about situations in your life? Ever felt overwhelmed by the darkness?

I pray that at this very moment, you’ll have eyes to see the light that Jesus is  lovingly making available to you. I pray that through His Word, you’ll be able to experience the hope it brings to your situation.

Jesus’ light shines on, even in the midst of darkness; it cannot be extinguished. Darkness cannot overpower the light His Word brings nor can it take authority over it.  Even in the natural realm, darkness cannot absorb light. Actually, light sends darkness fleeing! Just think about what happens when you flip a light switch or turn on a flashlight. Darkness immediately leaves. You’re able to see!

Light always wins.

Today, allow God’s Word to shine brightly and penetrate your darkest thoughts and your toughest situations.  Here’s how: read it, ponder it, speak it out loud to yourself. Repeat. Repeat again. Repeat until that Word gets rooted inside you and you begin to feel the darkness flee. Renew your partnership with God’s promises that address your situation. It’s your means to see His light.

Flip the switch.

Monday’s Marinade – Light in Your Darkness

Monday’s Marinade is provided to you as a means of “soaking yourself” in the hope-filled Word of God at the beginning of your week.

Start your week by meditating about how God lives in you and fills your life with His Life and His Light.

Repeatedly think about this and quietly say it to yourself.

Marinate and season your week with hope and a confident expectation of good things happening!

Here’s your spiritual marinade:

Light in Your Darkest Moments

Focus Friday

Focus on the following scripture throughout the day. It’s God’s Word and it’s what He desires us to believe. Believe it is true for you because God’s Word is Truth. Use it as an affirmation. Speak this Word to yourself throughout the day. Personalize it by putting your name in it!

“For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves.” Colossians 1:13 (NIV)

Choose Light

Even in the darkest of places, the tiniest bit of light chases the darkness away. Darkness cannot rule where light is allowed to shine.

In those areas of your life where darkness seems to rule, insert the Light of God’s Word.

Speak His promises out loud to your circumstances. Enjoy life in His Light!

“…for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.” 1 Peter 2:9 [NLT]

The Sun Is ALWAYS Shining

It’s been a chilly, wet and cloudy day today. The sun has been covered by grey clouds all day. When I went out to Zumba class this morning, there was no sign of the sun in the sky. Did that mean the sun had stopped shining?

Of course not! The sun is always shining, even on dark, dreary days. But because my view of the sun was obscured by the dark clouds, its presence wasn’t noticeable and went unacknowledged.

Life can be like that. When we look only at our surrounding circumstances, it can sometimes feel like a dreary and depressing life. Somehow, we begin to focus only on those “dark clouds” of life. We easily forget that the blessings of God are still swirling around us, ever-ready for us to grasp and bring the bright and abundant life God desires for us. His presence is an eternal promise to the believer in Jesus and brings nothing but grace to our lives. Like the sun, His blessings are always there, even when we don’t notice  them or take advantage of them.

I hope you’ll take time to remember everyday that the light of His grace is always available to brighten even your darkest circumstances. You just have to look to Him.

Light

As we begin this first full week of 2013, I thought I would encourage you to speak Light into your life. All of us have some dark spaces in our life. Some of those spaces are small corners. Some of those spaces feel like a huge banquet hall of darkness.

Nevertheless, any amount of darkness goes away when light come.  Even the light of a candle makes the darkness flee from the area immediately surrounding the candle.  Psalm 119:130 says that the entrance of the Word of God brings light. How do we allow the Word of God to enter our lives? By speaking it! By agreeing with it! By believing it! When light is the Light of Christ, it is powerful and active on our behalf! That Light gives us hope for our tomorrows.

So declare that 2013 will be a year filled with light for your life. Find a scripture that encourages you about the dark spaces you have in your life and believe that Word is true for you. See that Truth work its way of light for you throughout 2013.

Feel free to share any scriptures that you will “make your own” in the comments section below. Blessings to you as you declare God’s Word and bring light into your world.
