Yeah…What HE Said

Proverbs 4-20

Do you know the power of your words?

Do you know the power of God’s words?

They can be one in the same, IF you’re saying what God said about your circumstances in His Word, the Bible.

Our words have the creative power of death and life (Proverbs 18:21). We get to choose whether they will be words of blessing or of cursing (Deuteronomy 30:19; James 3:10).

May I suggest that everyday, you choose to speak words of life and blessing? You may be thinking, “OK, but HOW do I do that?”

Find scriptures that promise what you need and then continually speak them, meditate on them, visualize yourself enjoying those promises of what you need  or desire. Then you’ll be automatically speaking life and blessing because that’s all that God’s Word contains (John 6:63).

So no matter what your challenge is, whether it’s infertility, marital issues, finances, health, etc., remember to believe and say what God has said about it.

Yeah…what He said.

“…please, if I have now found favor in your sight, then receive my present from my hand.”

Genesis 33:10 NKJV

In this season of giving, a time when we reflect more on the gift of a Savior sent for the entire world, I want to offer a simple gift to you.

If you are one of the first five people to  respond to this post, I’d be glad to send one of these small ornaments as a gift to you. After you hang it on your Christmas tree, you can repurpose it when the holidays are over and hang it on a bulletin board at home or work, or put a magnet on the back of it and put it on your refrigerator. It can be a tangible reminder to have hope, to use your imagination as you visualize any blessings to come your way, to enjoy life, and to live in God’s matchless and free grace.

Simply fill out the form below to let me know that you’d like to receive the gift. I’ll contact you via email to arrange for delivery at no cost to you.

Remember, the first 5 to respond will receive!

Be blessed as you focus on “Jesus is the reason for the season.”

Trust God

trust in JesusI was listening to Nicole C. Mullen sing an old hymn this past weekend. The title was “Tis So Sweet.” Many times, the lyrics of hymns like this one become so familiar that we don’t really pay attention to the words and their meaning.

This song struck me this morning, reassuring  me that trusting what God has said is key in enjoying the benefits of His grace. His words are containers for His grace. His words are a life-giving source.  His words are a reflection of His loving character.

Trusting the stability and effectiveness what God has said allows us to experience His grace.  I want more of His grace exhibited in my life and in the lives of those I love. So I choose to trust His words and thereby trust His character and love for me.

Below is a video with the lyrics to this hymn. I hope the words bless you and assist you experiencing the sweetness of trusting in God’s love for you.

How do you encourage yourself to trust God for the things you desire? Do you use His Word to increase your confidence in Him?

A Prayer for You

Did today have a good start for you? I hope so.

If it did not, do not fret or be stressed. Put your trust for the rest of the day in the One whose truth can change your facts, making this day, and every day, blessed.

“Father, You are our refuge and  fortress; our safe place. Thank you for Your Word, the Bible, and that every solution we need in life can be found in it. Help us to have faith in Your Word as it works in our lives. You have made the way for us to be empowered in every area of our lives through Jesus. Help us to look to Him in every situation without being distracted by our circumstances. Thank you for always loving us and being with us. Help us to accept Your love and receive all that Jesus has accomplished for us on the cross. We plead the blood of Jesus over ourselves and our family. Thank you that your grace overflows to us. Help us to believe BIG today and to live with a hope-filled focus. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”

The Sun Is ALWAYS Shining

It’s been a chilly, wet and cloudy day today. The sun has been covered by grey clouds all day. When I went out to Zumba class this morning, there was no sign of the sun in the sky. Did that mean the sun had stopped shining?

Of course not! The sun is always shining, even on dark, dreary days. But because my view of the sun was obscured by the dark clouds, its presence wasn’t noticeable and went unacknowledged.

Life can be like that. When we look only at our surrounding circumstances, it can sometimes feel like a dreary and depressing life. Somehow, we begin to focus only on those “dark clouds” of life. We easily forget that the blessings of God are still swirling around us, ever-ready for us to grasp and bring the bright and abundant life God desires for us. His presence is an eternal promise to the believer in Jesus and brings nothing but grace to our lives. Like the sun, His blessings are always there, even when we don’t notice  them or take advantage of them.

I hope you’ll take time to remember everyday that the light of His grace is always available to brighten even your darkest circumstances. You just have to look to Him.

How We Weather a Storm

Winter is usually not too cold in central Arizona. But this year’s winter has been decidedly different. Most of the plants in our front yard took a hard hit from below-freezing temperatures a few weeks ago. Take a look at this 7 foot tall victim:

dead plant jpg

If you look near the bottom of this plant, you can see that it had been a large and rather lush green bush before the freeze.  But now, because it did not have what it takes inside the bush to keep it from reacting to the extremely cold desert temperatures, it appears to be close to death. Major pruning will be required to bring it back to its once verdant and healthy state.

But just 10 feet away, in the same freezing temperatures, sat this pot of flowers:

These flowers emerged victorious! They weathered the storm VERY well—something inside of them kept them strong and almost non-reactive to the harsh circumstances.

Our lives can be the same way. We can weather the storms of life and come out damaged, messed up and not having anything that looks appealing about us. BUT, if we have something inside of us, or should I say Someone inside of us, we can weather the storms of life and come out victorious, looking unscathed and healthy, like these flowers did. We can continue flourishing and give others joy through the beauty within us.

We’re blessed to have a God and Savior who loves us and puts His Holy Spirit in us to aid us in all our times of need. It is He who enables us to weather the storm and yet flourish so that others will see that His exceptional love, attention, and grace are just what they need in their lives.

Focus Friday

Focus on the following scripture throughout the day. It’s God’s Word and it’s what He desires us to believe. Believe it is true for you because God’s Word is Truth. Speak this Word to yourself throughout the day. Personalize it by putting your name in it!

“…and great grace was upon them all; neither was there any among them that lacked.”
