Focus Friday

Focus on the following scripture throughout the day. It’s God’s Word and it’s what He desires us to believe. Believe it is true for you because God’s Word is Truth. Speak this Word to yourself throughout the day. Personalize it by putting your name in it!

“Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?”

Jeremiah 32:27

The Sun Is ALWAYS Shining

It’s been a chilly, wet and cloudy day today. The sun has been covered by grey clouds all day. When I went out to Zumba class this morning, there was no sign of the sun in the sky. Did that mean the sun had stopped shining?

Of course not! The sun is always shining, even on dark, dreary days. But because my view of the sun was obscured by the dark clouds, its presence wasn’t noticeable and went unacknowledged.

Life can be like that. When we look only at our surrounding circumstances, it can sometimes feel like a dreary and depressing life. Somehow, we begin to focus only on those “dark clouds” of life. We easily forget that the blessings of God are still swirling around us, ever-ready for us to grasp and bring the bright and abundant life God desires for us. His presence is an eternal promise to the believer in Jesus and brings nothing but grace to our lives. Like the sun, His blessings are always there, even when we don’t notice  them or take advantage of them.

I hope you’ll take time to remember everyday that the light of His grace is always available to brighten even your darkest circumstances. You just have to look to Him.

The Season of Waiting

Waiting…

It’s not fun.

In our  American “get it NOW” society, we tend to want our desires to manifest immediately. We don’t like waiting.

But the old saying “good things come to those who wait,” still rings true. Sometimes an incubation period is needed for in order for us to see the desired end result. Seeds don’t produce immediately after they are planted. Farmers and gardeners have to wait.  It takes time before the seed produces the first sprout which forces its way through the soil to bask in the sunlight and continue to grow.

Even God waits. He planted many “Word seeds” through His prophets who predicted a Savior/Messiah would come. But He waited through many generations. He desired for Jesus to come to the earth and save mankind but it took hundreds of years before Jesus was born. Sending Jesus was indeed the BEST thing that God has done for mankind but God patiently waited for the right time!

You may be waiting on a desired result that seems impossible to come through, only because it’s taking so long to manifest. But hang in there! The seed is about to sprout. There is HOPE! You’ll find it in Hebrews 10:35, 36:

“So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you! Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.”

I pray that you’ll endure this season of waiting with hope, peace and joy!

Focus and Finish

At the beginning of every year, I try to designate a scripture that be my “theme” for the year. The scripture becomes a focal point that helps me to expect good things, remember where my help comes from, and  know Who it is that loves and favors me.

It’s important to me to set the stage of 2013 with a scripture that will impact not only my personal life but also my business. I believe God’s Word brings illumination and Life [Ephesians 1:17,18; John 6:63] to our lives and I definitely need those for this year. This year is bringing big changes in my life, which include building a business as an author and speaker and my husband and I becoming official empty-nesters later this year. I know I have to press into God in order to manage these and other changes well!

I’m still looking for the verse(s) that will be “the one” but here are some I’m considering:

  • Psalm 65:11 ~ “You crown the year with Your goodness, And Your paths drip with abundance.” [NIV]
  • Psalm 84:11 ~ “For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless.”
  • Jeremiah 17:7,8 ~ “But blessed are those who trust in the LORD and have made the LORD their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.” [NLT]
  • Colossians 1:10 ~ “Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.” [NLT]

Do any of those resonate with you? I’d love to hear what you think, especially if you’d like to suggest other scriptures. Here’s to focusing on God’s Word and finishing strong!

Light

As we begin this first full week of 2013, I thought I would encourage you to speak Light into your life. All of us have some dark spaces in our life. Some of those spaces are small corners. Some of those spaces feel like a huge banquet hall of darkness.

Nevertheless, any amount of darkness goes away when light come.  Even the light of a candle makes the darkness flee from the area immediately surrounding the candle.  Psalm 119:130 says that the entrance of the Word of God brings light. How do we allow the Word of God to enter our lives? By speaking it! By agreeing with it! By believing it! When light is the Light of Christ, it is powerful and active on our behalf! That Light gives us hope for our tomorrows.

So declare that 2013 will be a year filled with light for your life. Find a scripture that encourages you about the dark spaces you have in your life and believe that Word is true for you. See that Truth work its way of light for you throughout 2013.

Feel free to share any scriptures that you will “make your own” in the comments section below. Blessings to you as you declare God’s Word and bring light into your world.

Entering a Season of Fruitfulness

This is a short article from the Elijah List newsletter. Be blessed as you read its words of hope and consider them appropriate to apply to not only infertility but to all the barren areas of life you may be experiencing.

December 1, 2012 – From The Den:

“From the beginning, before time began, I knew this hour; I knew this day. Was it hidden from Me? Am I afraid?” says the Lord of Hosts. “Even if Israel stood alone, watch. Read the history. Before time began, I knew of this moment and I knew that from the miry clay would emerge an upright reed. From the mire, I will bring something upright and something good.

“You have entered into a season of fruitfulness, and yet they cry, ‘Barren is the land; barren are the people.'” But God says, “I have called that which is barren, fruitful, and I have called that which is weak, strong. And I have called that which is poor, rich. Therefore, say what I say for the redeemed of the Lord shall say So!’ Watch and see as I demonstrate My glory and majesty,” says the Lord.

What I’ve been dealing with and what I’ve been feeling from the Lord is that He wants to destroy unfruitfulness and barrenness and wants to make this a fruitful month and a fruitful 2013. Do you believe that this could be possible? Now if there’s faith in your heart, please hear what I’m saying because I am literally giving you a prophetic proclamation that God wants fruitfulness and He wants it this month and He wants it in the year 2013 – and don’t tell me it cannot be done.
