Make a Decision to Declare — “Enough is Enough!”

Have you reached the point of saying “Enough!” to a particularly trying circumstance?

I think sometimes it takes reaching a point of where we’re no longer willing to tolerate a negative circumstance before we take faith-rooted action. You know, that “last straw” that makes us decide to firmly speak to that “mountain” (Mark 11:23) so that we begin to experience relief from its oppression. This oppression is part of the curse outlined in Deuteronomy 28:15-68. Yes, over 50 verses speak to the bad stuff that the enemy is waiting for an opportunity to introduce into your life.

Included are:

  • confusion
  • frustration
  • sicknesses
  • inflammation
  • chronic illnesses
  • poverty
  • drought
  • oppressed and robbed continually
  • defeat in wars
  • and sooo much more!

It’s a long litany of various curses found in those verses.

Thankfully, there’s a Holy BUT…

BUT (!), don’t be scared of these things. The good news is that there is a powerful antidote to every curse! Galatians 3:13 assures us that Jesus became cursed for us so that we could be redeemed from all the effects of the curse. He paid the price that set us free from every curse. Jesus bought us so that we can no longer be held captive to defeat, sickness, poverty, etc., when we use the authority He’s given us. What was the price? His life. And once we receive Him as Savior we’re officially released from that captivity and He blesses us by making us kings and priests with Him.

But here’s the deal— using the antidote means you’ve got to speak to that mountain! You’ve been given the authority to do it. So if you’ve never spoken to your “mountain” of infertility, miscarriage, chronic illness, poverty, hopelessness, etc., it’s time to get mad, and be resolute in addressing this mountain and consistently telling it, “Enough!”. Find scriptures that promise what you need. No matter what the doctors, lawyers, bosses, or other authority figures have said, understand what God has said about your situation. His Word is settled and true (Psalm 119:89; John 17:17)!

How to say “Enough”

So how can you say “Enough!” to your circumstances? By consistently saying to your circumstances what God has said in His Word about them.

The passage in Deuteronomy 28:61 gives us an overview of the curse regarding your health:

Also every sickness and every plague, which is not written in this book of the Law, will the Lord bring upon you until you are destroyed.

And that covers everything that tries to attack your body. But because Jesus has redeemed those that believe in Him, this verse also shows that He has redeemed you from every form of sickness.

Declare Enough is Enough!

Psalm 107:2 CSB encourages you to speak up, to say “Enough!” by saying that you are redeemed from the curse by the Lord God Almighty:

Let the redeemed of the LORD proclaim that He has redeemed them from the power of the foe.

So here’s an affirmation you can speak and believe daily as you confidently wait for the manifestation of your healing:

(Name of the condition), you are from the curse. BUT God’s Word says I am redeemed from the curse because Jesus became cursed on my behalf. I praise God that I am now and forever redeemed from this condition!

No matter how long you’ve dealt with it, the condition must bow to the name and finished work of Jesus!

Because He loves you, you can take God at His Word. So decide to use His Word as your way to say “Enough!”!

Scriptural affirmations

5 of God’s Tools You Need to Use to Improve Your Health (Part 4)

For the past 3 weeks, we’ve been exploring five tools God has given us to use to affect healing in our lives. Today, we’ll focus on Scriptural Affirmations. You can find the previous posts by clicking the links below.

Here are 5 of His tools that can bring restoration to our health:

  1. His Word (The Bible)
  2. Communion
  3. Meditation
  4. Scriptural Affirmations
  5. Praying in Tongues

The Power of Words

God framed the world using His words. He designed our universe to respond to words. He spoke words and big things happened (Genesis 1). That’s why He sent the prophets of the Old Testament— to speak the words that He spoke so that those words would cause His plan to happen within this earth realm.

Throughout the Old Testament, we see so many prophetic words about what was coming in the future through the Messiah. Those prophecies proclaimed specific things to come. Those words would set the things in motion that God included in His plan for mankind. All of those words were eventually fulfilled, accomplished, and completed through Jesus.

God has placed that same significance and power in our words. Our words are able to frame and change our personal world when we speak what God says about our situation. The act of speaking what He has said initiates, strengthens, and builds our faith. Believing and speaking His promises instead of our problems can change our personal world.

If God said it, you can choose to believe it and you can choose to say it. The Apostle Paul encourages us to do so:

“Just like the psalmist who wrote, “I believed it, so I said it,” we say what we believe.” 2 Corinthians 4:13 MSG

Paul was conveying to the Corinthians the thought that King David wrote in Psalm 116:10. David, known as a man who pursued the heart of God, encourages us to believe what God said, and then act on what we believe by speaking it.

Affirm God’s Promises

Listen (consent and submit) to the words of the wise, and apply your mind to my knowledge: for it will be pleasant if you keep them in your mind [believing them]; your lips will be accustomed to [confessing] them. So that your trust (belief, reliance, support, and confidence) may be in the Lord.”  Proverbs 22:17,18 AMP

I am still learning how important my words are. Not only do they let others know what I think, but they are actually vessels filled with the power to change things in my life, including my health!

Tips for Scriptural Affirmations

“My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body.” ~ Proverbs 4:20-22 NIV

An affirmation is a definitive statement that you vocalize. It is a statement about something that you declare is already existent, even if you’re not currently seeing it or experiencing it with your other senses. Effective affirmations are positive statements, specifically crafted around the promises found in God’s Word. It’s important that they are framed in the present tense. Creating personal affirmations based on God’s Word is a way of increasing your belief that His promises are true for you.

Here are some tips about saying what God has said about your health. These should make it easier for you to develop the habit of crafting Scriptural Affirmations specific to your circumstances and then speaking them:

  • Find what God has said in the Bible about your specific circumstances—healing/ good health. He only wants His best for you! Read it repeatedly to gain clarity.
  • Ask the Holy Spirit to give you a better understanding of that particular Scripture and how it relates to your health.
  • Declare that Scripture daily by making it a prayerful decree that’s spoken out loud. Hear yourself confess His Word instead of all your troubling circumstances.
  • Humble yourself by putting aside your own point of view (what seems or appears like truth) and look at your situation the way God does–according to His Word.
  • Decide to speak what God has said about you and your health, especially during your everyday conversations.

God’s Word is Truth. Speak it, believe it, and make it your truth.  When you speak God’s Word about how He wants you to experience good health, you are releasing its power through your lips. Speaking it will help you believe what you say and you’ll grow to speak it with greater faith.

What is an affirmation that you speak over your health? Please share it in the comments.

5 Secrets to Help You Shake Things Up and Enjoy Life

I know what the pressure of infertility feels like. It’s as if it completely surrounds you, pressuring you to give up, to not enjoy life or to see any advantage in continuing to hope. In the midst of infertility, life can feel like you’re always stuck between a rock and a hard place. It seems like not much is working out in your favor. Every day seems as if infertility colors how you view life in general. It looms over every aspect of your life, clouding your vision so it’s hard to see anything good that’s on the horizon.

But I’m glad to share with you that in that place of feeling stuck, HOPE can shake things up, freeing you to enjoy life!

Here are 5 secrets that I’ve found that are powerful in helping you enjoy life as you maintain hope for victory in this struggle with infertility:

  1. Believe God loves you. His love is a “no matter what” kind of love. No matter what you’ve done/thought/said, He loves you with an unfailing and unending love.
  2. Decide to not give up. Don’t underestimate the power of a decision!
  3. Remember the previous times, big or small, when God has come through for you. Encourage yourself. Think about those successes and the joy you experienced.
  4. On a daily basis, affirm the promise of God that relates to your situation by speaking the Word out loud. Instead of focusing on medical facts, let God’s Word be your point of focus and become your truth.
  5. Greet each morning with gratitude for the gift of a new day. This helps set a positive tone for the day ahead of you. Thankfulness has a way of shifting our attitude, choices, and behavior.

Hope is one of the three things that 1 Corinthians 13:13 tells us will always remain as a resource that allows us to tap into God’s grace. We are to always have hope—the joyful and confident expectation of God coming through for us!

Hope established upon Jesus’ love never disappoints.

Allow hope to shake things up in your life so that you experience the freedom to confidently expect good things from your very good Heavenly Father.

An Affirmation for You:

God loves me and desires for me to experience only His goodness so that I enjoy life. I rest in His love for me. I choose to allow His desires for my life to shape my desires. I maintain my hope in God.

What things are you currently doing to help you enjoy life during the struggle? Please share below.

Affirmations You Should Be Saying

affirmations of trust

Affirmations are a powerful way to express trust.

Sometimes it’s hard to trust and be in agreement with the plans of someone else regarding the impact of their plans for YOUR life. If someone asked you whether you agree with whatever God has said and planned about your situation, what would be your response? Would you express sincere confidence in His plans for you? Your victory depends on trusting His Word and being in agreement with what He has said.

King David of the Bible can be our example of how to be in agreement with God. David, a man who so openly loved and trusted God, knew the power of speaking the Word of God. He said in Psalm 17:4,

“…By the word of Your lips, I have kept away from the paths of the destroyer.”

Similarly, affirmations that you speak should be crafted using Scripture.

Affirm the Word of God by speaking it into your life. Doing so will help keep you off of Satan’s paths that are lined with his burdens and devices of deception.  Most importantly, speaking the Word helps you to keep your eyes and mind on Jesus’ love for you. This enables you to agree with His plans and receive the victory over infertility or any other challenge you face.

Stay encouraged!

5 Secrets for Maintaining Hope When You Feel Like Giving Up

Evangeline Colbert - Hope in Hard Places

Here are some thoughts about hope that I shared over a year ago at In Due Time. If you’re about to give up because you’re feeling stuck in a difficult situation, I think this will help:
